About Maryam Aziz, LCSW

Maryam is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Trauma Specialist. Throughout her clinical career Maryam has had the privilege to work with diverse populations in a variety of treatment settings including inpatient and outpatient environments. Her most extensive experience has been in working with adults and adolescents in psychiatric units, including one where she oversaw a trauma recovery program.

Maryam’s clinical and leadership style is one of skill, empathy and support, while also incorporating the challenge of narratives to promote deeper insight and positive changes. Her psychotherapy approach is primarily strengths-based and solution focused, and integrates elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, psychodynamic therapy and cognitive processing therapy. In addition to utilizing her extensive experience and expertise working with varied diagnoses, Maryam enjoys also utilizing humor and creativity when working with clients and strongly believes in the importance of a therapist and client collaboration to problem solve and maximize healing.

Maryam received her Masters of Social Work degree from University of Southern California, Los Angeles and her Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from University of California, Irvine. She also received a certificate in Psychology of Trauma from Antioch University.
